Reading Response #11: Pg: 212-232
Overall, these pages were about how much the internet’s presence
has evolved the way our world revolves and moves, in a way that signifies the passing
of time, from one artistic generation to another. The internet has made it more
virtual for the world to communicate, in a way that makes it fast, and broader
than ever before. And when we look at it from an artistic standpoint, things
could not be more different. Graphic designers have become a thing, and their
gallery, has become a social network account. Millions of creators are coming
up in ranks and many are able to discuss from all over the planet. Something of
this nature has never been seen before from previous generations, and yet, we
are still in its early stages of practice. Artists such as Peter Halley, have
made canvas of various elements that bring that early internet vibe. He would
make it full of color and vibrancy. “The computer and the Internet are, at
least in this moment, dependent on words and require skills that popular visual
media, especially television, do not”. When the internet was first introduced,
it was so much simpler and plain to what we’ve grown up with today. And with
the internet changing, so does the artist movements. We like to assume art with
a more boring approach, and in that, we don’t necessarily pay much attention to
it. But with new technology, we are able to engage artist, with a more variable
audience. Which is a show of where we are going down the road from this point
onwards.
