Response #4 Intro: 36-57

The movement of body is something that is intriguing to the open. Eye. Through movement and dance, translation and art can be sought after. But in art and dance, movement isn’t just the key. There are many technological advances, that provide more advantages to how the artist wants his or her creation to come together. Engineers at some point have been called together by artist. By having production in movement. Lighting, sound, and film all under the same umbrella, artists have created a new ground in the world of contemporary art. Video cameras in particular have made in impact in the way many creative minds have approached the craft. “studio” performances, have also intrigued me, based on some examples shown in the readings. These performances have shown the intricate part in media today. In the chapter, Nauman made a studio performance that was based around his body, with an emphasis on how some production was being used to tell his narrative. He used his own body as a “living scripture” which then were being projected onto walls through film. Though the advances in technological sufficiency, many arts in dancing, have also felt the mass effect of these things. Dance in such a way, has opened its door to the practice, and in doing so, have changed their own platform, from going into classical arts of dancing, into the contemporary ways dancing has involved into, as an example. To the point, all forms of art have adapted these practices, with the help of technology, and practices.

  1. I really enjoyed your post, especially the part on dance and expression. That reminds me of the time when I was in high school and I did dance for 4 year. I have to say those were the best times. Being on the dance floor was the only time I felt so free to be who I want and to express my feeling through movements and fascial expressions. Now, that I am older sometimes I wish I could go back onto the dance floor to express my frustration, my happiness, and pure joy.
